about
VAJRA (vauj.rah): Starting with a core that has grown up playing together since their early teens, VAJRA is a unique collaboration of guitar, trumpet, bass, drums and vocals. They have an explosive live show that is composed of original songs bursting with originality and a contagious energy. Each of the four college educated instrumentalists have been performing, composing and arranging in various genres professionally since they were in Jr. High School. When the band was formed and solidified in the spring of 2006, it was apparent that each member, though still in their early twenties, brought a unique asset to the music and the group as a whole. The fifth and final piece fell into place in the summer of 2006 when VAJRA was introduced to the Los Angeles native rap artist K.U. The chemistry was apparent and the infusion of K.U. into the VAJRA sound was a seamless transition. VAJRA featuring K.U. performs constantly around Los Angeles (House of Blues, Roxy, Key Club, Knitting Factory, Temple Bar, etc…) and has opened for old school hip hop legends De La Soul as well as Biz Markie.

Watch out! An instrumental quartet bringing the rock influences of Led Zepplin, Rage Against the Machine mixed with the ... more jazzy sensibilities of Charlie Hunter and Bill Frisell. Here comes a sound unheard in Los Angeles, delicate sonic textures mixed with heart pounding controlled chaos!! Think Them Crooked Vultures marries TOOL while cheating on Jazz Ministry and going to therapy with Pat Metheny less
